Best Colleges For Your Money

Wittenberg Named to Money Magazine’s Latest List

Wittenberg University was recently listed among the nation’s “best colleges for your money,” according to the latest 2017-2018 rankings from Money magazine.

The magazine used 27 statistical indicators to rank more than 700 U.S. colleges and universities. Colleges were ranked based on quality of education, affordability and student outcomes. The magazine’s intent was to identify schools that provide the best education at the most reasonable price.

Money, a 44-year-old financial magazine published by Time, Inc., narrowed its list down to 711 top colleges after examining data from approximately 2,400 higher education facilities across the nation. Wittenberg ranked No. 655 in this year’s rankings, tied with two other schools, Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo. and Stetson University in Deland, Fla. Princeton University was first place in the national rankings, followed by Bernard M. Baruch College in New York and the University of Michigan. Wittenberg came in at No. 26 among Ohio schools.

According to a survey by Niche.com, a college-and-neighborhood-finding website, a word that respondents used to best describe Wittenberg is “friendly.”

Money used a combination of data from the U.S. Department of Education, Peterson's and PayScale.com. To make the initial cut, schools had to have at least 500 students, reliable data and meet specific graduation rates.

Wittenberg was also recently named:

  • Best Buy School for 2017 (Fiske Guide)
  • Best Classroom Experience (Princeton Review)
  • Most Accessible Professors (Princeton Review)
  • More Ohio Professors of the Year than any four-year institution in the state
  • Ranked among Top 50 Most Entrepreneurial Colleges in Nation (Forbes)

Last year, Wittenberg was ranked among the top 10 in terms of business schools whose alumni earn the highest salary when it comes to mid-career median earnings, according to a report recently released by PayScale, Inc., the world's leading provider of on-demand compensation data and software. PayScale also listed Wittenberg among the Top 20 Best Schools for Humanities Majors by Salary Potential.
