In addition to rigorous course work, theatre and dance students have numerous opportunities to learn by being involved in mainstage and dance productions.

At Wittenberg, we believe that a solid theatre or dance education focuses on both the intellectual and practical.

Thus, in addition to rigorous course work, the theatre and dance programs provide numerous opportunities to learn by being involved in mainstage and studio stage productions and dance concerts.

Auditions for mainstage productions, student-directed plays, one-acts and dance concerts are open to all Wittenberg students. Our seasons typically include:

  • A contemporary play, a pre-20th-century play, a 20th-century play and two dance concerts
  • A mainstage musical every other year
  • Student-directed plays every year
  • Shakespeare and Moliere plays every four years
  • One dance concert each semester
  • One informal dance concert each semester

Talent-based scholarships for both theatre and dance are available and require an audition or interview. The theatre department also has a number of employment opportunities, such as work-study positions, available each year.
