Seasonal Music Opportunities

Private lessons are available in piano, organ, orchestral strings, guitar (acoustic and electric), hammered and mountain dulcimer; wind instruments: flute, piccolo, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, and all percussion instruments; voice, and Suzuki violin and piano.

Fall 2017 Classes

BEGINNING PIANO FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS (ages 6-9)
First piano lessons in a small group setting. students will learn to read music and musical notation, find keyboard land-marks, and play rhythms. Students will play music of increasing challenge in our state-of-the-art piano lab. Students should purchase the “Faber Piano Primer Book.” Class size is limited. When the student completes the class they will advance to individualized, private lessons.

Dates: Tuesdays, September 12, 19, 26 and October 3, 2017
Time: 3:30 pm to 4:00pm
Place: Krieg Hall Room 301
Cost: $45 (includes registration fee)

BEGINNING PIANO FOR OLDER STUDENTS (ages10 and up)
Older students will learn the fundamentals of piano performance: proper hand position, basic rhythmic values, and music notation, including on-staff notation, as well as develop confidence to play new songs on their own. No piano playing or musical experience is required.Students should purchase “The Accelerated Piano Adventures by Faber, Book One (for the older beginner)” When the student completes the class they will advance to individualized, private lessons.

LATE STARTERS' ORCHESTRA
Did you start playing a musical instrument when you were young and would like to play again? Did you start taking lessons as an adult and have wanted to play in a musical ensemble? Would you like to improve your playing of a musical instrument?  The Late Starters Orchestra is for you!! The group will accept high school musicians and any adult musician who want to be in an ensemble, a fun and challenging experience.

Dates:  Wednesday evenings September 13- December 13, 2017
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.    
Place: Krieg Hall Room 302
Cost: $100 includes registration

WITTENBERG TINY TIGERS (DISCOVERING MUSIC FOR YOUNG CHILDREN) AGES 1-6
Around the World!This session will have music activities from cultures all around the world. From Russia to China, Mexico to France, we will create and move to music while learning about celebrations around the world. Join our party! The classes must have a minimum of 4 children registered, maximum 12. Caregiver participates with the child.

Dates: Mondays, September 11, 18, 25, October 2, 2017.
Time: 5:30pm to 6:00pm
Place: Kreig Hall, room 302  
Cost: $45 (Discount for multiple siblings 20% = $37)
