How Need-Based Financial Aid is Calculated

Admission

When you apply for federal student aid, the information you report is used in a formula, established by the U.S. Congress, that calculates your Expected Family Contribution (EFC), an amount you and your family are expected to contribute toward your education. If your EFC is below a certain amount, you may be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant. There isn't a maximum EFC that defines eligibility for the other financial aid programs.

Wittenberg Scholarships

Each year Wittenberg recognizes and rewards outstanding scholastic achievements by awarding merit-based scholarships and special awards to deserving students. Students are automatically considered for these awards once they submit an application to Wittenberg. We select students on the basis of performance, involvement in co-curricular activities, personal references and writing ability.
