Policy Governing Threatened or Attempted Suicide by Students

The stress of the college experience and the normal developmental issues of young adulthood place some students under emotional pressures that occasionally manifests itself in a threat or attempt by the student to take his or her own life.

The University will treat all threats or attempted suicides as serious regardless of the degree of lethality involved. When a student threatens or attempts suicide, the University will take the steps necessary, which may include removal of the student from the University to an appropriate setting.

Missing Person’s Policy

The health and safety of our students is one of our most important concerns. It is this concern that underlies Wittenberg’s commitment to and compliance with the Higher Education Act’s requirement for colleges and universities to establish a missing person’s policy and to inform students of that policy. When it is determined that a student is missing, the policy involves the notification of the appropriate university officials, law enforcement, and where permitted, the student’s parents/guardians or other persons so designated by the student.

Motor Vehicle Regulations

Students are reminded that all motor vehicles must be registered with the University. It is the operator’s responsibility that registered vehicles have the validation tag affixed to the vehicle in a visible, prescribed manner. Vehicle registration is accomplished in advance by mail or by filling out an application at the Police and Security Department.
