On April 10, President Laurie M. Joyner gathered with students, faculty, and staff to honor individual and collective leadership across multiple campus areas during the annual Student Involvement Leadership Awards Program. During the event, which served as the kick-off activity for the four-day “Liberal Arts in Action: A Celebration of Learning,” Joyner shared some welcome remarks and congratulatory words.
Joined by student-athletes, coaches, faculty, and staff, President Laurie M. Joyner put her eyes and ears to the test as a guest judge for the annual SAAC talent show, April 8. A favored event, the show provided laughs and a sense of community for both judges and participants.
In keeping with the celebration of Women's History Month, the Womyn's Center sponsored its annual Woman of the Year Awards ceremony, April 4. Bestowed upon one student, one faculty member, and one staff member, the award honors those who display confidence, pride, and strength, and who stand out from the crowd in serving as role models for other women. Twenty-seven individuals were nominated this year for the award.
Formerly the Confidence Coalition, the newly renamed Women of Wittenberg (WOW) hosted a speaking series on campus to celebrate Women's History Month with assistance from the student organization No Woman Left Behind. As part of the series, President Laurie M. Joyner discussed her triumphs and tribulations as a woman, who has served in a range of senior-level positions throughout her career.
More than 25 tour guides enjoyed dinner with President Laurie M. Joyner, March 26, in Blair Hall. The event provided an opportunity for Joyner and the tour guides to engage in a dialogue regarding how best to share the Wittenberg story.

Joyner and her family, famed mathematician Arthur Benjamin delighted audience members with his rapid mental calculations and sense of humor, March 20. Benjamin’s presentation was the first in the newly created Community Speaker Series sponsored by the new Bullock Math Academy at Wittenberg.
