Professor Publishes Second Book about Graphic Novels

Dr. Matthew Smith, Professor of Communication, is eagerly anticipating the release of his second book “Critical Approaches to Comics: Theories and Methods” on Oct. 29 on Amazon.com.

 

Smith wrote this book in collaboration with Randy Duncan of Henderson State University in Arkansas. Prior to this book, Duncan and Smith co-authored “The Power of Comics” together, which Smith uses to teach Comm 222A: Graphic Storytelling.

Students Present Research at National Conference

E. Patrick Johnson to Perform for Spring Colloquium

 

E. Patrick Johnson, Professor of Performance Studies at Northwestern University, will be performing his most recent piece “Sweet Tea: Black Gay Men of the South Tell Their Stories” for the Department of Communication spring colloquium.

“Sweet Tea” is a compilation of personal narratives collected from over 70 men over the course of several years. Johnson uses his performance studies expertise to bring personality to his interpretation of their stories.

Integrated Media Corps Open House

January 2011

Integrated Media Corps is a new co-curricular initiative with the goal of providing opportunities for students to gain hands-on media productions experience.  Junior and senior students from any major are eligible for the program.

Students will be working with Wittenberg’s Department of Communication and The Office of University Communications to provide multi-media experiences with The Tiger Sports Network, work with internet productions and many other opportunities.

Communication Major Requirements

In order to graduate with the Communication Major, students must complete a minimum of 36 hours total (usually nine courses) and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the major.

 NOTE: The following Communication Major requirements pertain to students who declared the major as of August 2011 or later. Students who declared prior to that time are required to take only COMM 300Z for the Methodology requirement and three Advanced Seminars.
