Department of Biology

Requirements for Minor

A minor in biology requires 24 semester hours, including Biology 170 and 180, plus 14 additional semester hours in majors-level biology courses. These may be selected by the student in consultation with the biology minor adviser so that diversification or specialization is possible. Advice and consent of the department chair are required for a biology minor.

Faculty and Staff

Dr. Gribbins formal training is in vertebrate reproduction and herpetology. He holds a B.S. from Butler University (Indianapolis, IN), and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Cincinnati. His research interests focus on the histology and ultrastructure of the male reproductive system in reptiles. Currently, he is studying the germ cell development strategies in temperate vs.

Faculty and Staff

Dr. Pederson is trained as a neurobiologist, receiving her degree in Physiology and Neurobiology from Rutgers University in 1996. Her research in graduate school was primarily focused on the effects of cocaine on the lateral striatum in the rat. This involved single neurons which were recorded while the animal was performing a behavioral task.
