Springfield, Ohio - Wittenberg University's Center for Musical Development, supported by the Ohio Lyric Theater, will offer a Choral Day Camp for middle school students Monday through Thursday, June 10-13 on the Wittenberg campus.
Now in its second year, this summer program for students in grades 5-9 with unchanged voices will be directed by Marilyn Rossiter, middle school music educator, choral director and director of the Wayne Center for the Arts Children's Chorus. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day except Thursday, June 13, when the singers will present a final concert for parents, teachers, family and friends at 5:30 p.m. in Weaver Chapel on campus.
The camp is open to boys and girls who love to sing, and enjoy working toward an excellent choral performance. Campers will meet other young people who share their musical interests, will enjoy rehearsing together to perfect their music, and will experience the thrill of performing together.
The camp staff, in addition to Rossiter, includes Clark Middle School teacher Liz Fronduti, vocal coach and Northwestern Elementary teacher Jerry Smith, accompanist. Two Springfield Children's Chorus alumni will serve as rehearsal aides, and Ami Kelly, teacher at Roosevelt Middle School, will lead recreation.
Applications and teacher nomination forms are due by May 24. Call the Center for Musical Development at (937) 327-7050 for a brochure. Partial need-based financial assistance is available.
