On April 10, President Laurie M. Joyner gathered with students, faculty, and staff to honor individual and collective leadership across multiple campus areas during the annual Student Involvement Leadership Awards Program. During the event, which served as the kick-off activity for the four-day “Liberal Arts in Action: A Celebration of Learning,” Joyner shared some welcome remarks and congratulatory words.
“One of my favorite leadership quotes is from Chris Lowney in his book Heroic Leadership in which he states that, ‘A leader’s greatest power is his or her personal vision, communicated by the example of his or her daily life.’ The individuals here tonight have clearly reflected inwardly on what you care about and have made a conscious decision about the role you can play at Wittenberg and beyond.”
Also at the event, Joyner was presented with the Richard R. Scott Outstanding Faculty/Administrator Support Award. This award, established in 1990 to honor former Dean of Students Richard R. Scott, recognizes the faculty member or administrator who displays outstanding dedication, service, and professionalism toward Wittenberg University and the fraternity/sorority community.
