Awards and Recognitions
Winner of the 2010 Alumni Association Award for Distinguished Teaching, the highest recognition bestowed on a Wittenberg faculty member. Recipient of two prestigious Senior Fulbright Scholarships to spend a semester teaching and doing research in Moscow during the 2002-03 academic year and to teach and conduct research in Tbilisi, Georgia in 2009-10. She has also received a grant from National Council for Soviet & East European Research.
Publications
Written several dozen articles in professional journals, contributed chapters to numerous books, and published two books on Soviet urbanization and changes in urban and social landscape across post-Soviet space.

Conducts research on cities in transition in the post-Soviet realm.

Has been a member of the Wittenberg faculty since 1989. Together with RCEP colleague, Gerry Hudson, she has taken students on five research trips to Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia, the last one being in 2008. Her husband, Yuri Medvedkov, is a professor of geography at the Ohio State University. They have two children, Masha and Michael. Masha is a master student at Columbia's Mailman School of Public Health, and Mike is working on MBA at Otterbein.
