Noyce Internships

Summer internship experiences are available in research laboratories and informal educational settings serving local high need students.

8 weeks in length (June and July)
Paid internships and housing/meals (on campus)
Available to students at the end of their freshmen and sophomore year
Two types:
- Internship with the Susan Hirt Hagen Center for Civic and Urban Engagement in the Strengthening After-School Programs. Under the guidance of a mentor, interns will be responsible for planning and teaching math or science lessons for students in grades 2-6. Application deadlines for were due February 18. The Summer 2013 Interns have been chosen: Science Club Interns will be Stephanie Brandstetter and Cara Vendeville; Math Club Interns will be Haley Conkel and Deidre Hooley.
- Tutor-Counselor work with Witt's Upward Bound program. The primary responsibilities will be for assisting with STEM and computational science coursework and related co-curricular activities to excite secondary school students about STEM disciplines. An Application for the Upward Bound Internship through Noyce is found at this link. The application deadline for Summer 2013 is due by Friday, March 1 to the Noyce Office (224 Blair Hall) . Letters of recommendation may arrive later, but need to be received by Wed., March 13, 2013.
Available for students who are completing their freshmen or sophomore year.
Applications will be due mid to late February.

Avetec, a leader in simulation, modeling, and high-performance computing applications, arranges STEM internships for Noyce Scholars at PNNL. The students are assigned to a STEM research project related to their major field of study and produce a research report on their topic.The PNNL experience will challenge the students to engage in inquiry-, problem-, and project-based learning and then apply their learning both in the research area and in pedagogy, allowing them to accelerate their subject matter mastery and their teaching skills.
Information sessions held fall and spring semester will offer applications due in late Fall Semester each year. PNNL applicants for the summer of 2013 have been chosen: Makenzie Daniels, Skylar Folkens & Hannah Fournier; they will be joined by 2012-13 Noyce Scholars Rachel Evans and Katy Williams.
