Wittenberg Falls At Nationally Ranked Denison

Emily Nash
GRANVILLE, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers were overmatched by the sixth ranked team in the nation, North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Denison, by a final score of 9-0.

The Tigers dropped to 5-5 overall and 1-4 in the NCAC with the defeat. Denison, a national quarterfinalist the last two years, improved to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

No Wittenberg player managed more than three games in a match. The most successful Tiger, in terms of games won, was sophomore Emily Nash (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson). She lost 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5 singles and teamed with freshman Jayne Miely (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) for an 8-3 loss at No. 1 doubles.

Wittenberg will attempt to end a three-match losing skid against NAIA scholarship rival Cedarville on Thursday, back home in the friendly confines of the Georgiana Albright Tennis Complex.
