Tiger Reserves Top Cedarville For Second Time In 2009

Kelsey Dimar
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Wittenberg's Reserve team bounced back quickly after a loss to Cincinnati State, coming away with a 1-0 win over the visiting Cedarville Yellow Jackets.

The Tigers met their own expectations by playing quickly and with poise and confidence for the full 90 minutes. It was one-way traffic for the Tigers as they controlled play over the entire contest.

Wittenberg's offense was on fire, taking more than 20 shots on goal. A shot found the back of the net in the second half, courtesy of Leslie Goodwin's head as she buried a perfectly crossed ball from Kelsey Dimar. The forwards - sophomore Meredith Kirby and freshman Gracie Winzeler - worked hard to keep the ball in bounds and take on Cedarville’s defense.

The defense played with confidence the entire game, setting the pace and helping the team maintain possession. They did not force passes forward and tried to find feet throughout all 90 minutes. Freshmen goalkeeper Hannah Hoffman did her part as well by keeping a clean score sheet.
