Wittenberg Falls To Notre Dame In Home Opener
Molly Floyd
|
First on the board for the Tigers was Maggie Amorello (Sutton, Mass./Worcester Academy), but only after Notre Dame had taken a 3-0 lead they would never give back. Also muscling her way into the first period scoring column was Molly Floyd (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Hathaway Brown). The Tigers went down to a 9-2 deficit before halftime intervened.
After the rest, Wittenberg came back out with intensity and kept Notre Dame honest, allowing only three goals while the Tigers scored twice more. The goals were courtesy Chelsea Sickman (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) and Cait Mather (Mason, Ohio/Mason).
Tiger netminder Bonnie Kenney (Lutherville, Md./Park School) registered eight saves on the night, while Beth Vonderbrink (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) notched a game-high four draw controls.
The Fighting Lutherans next face Tri-State at home on Wednesday, March 19, with a 7 p.m. start time.
