"The level of play at this tournament was exactly what we needed," said Wittenberg Head Coach Paco Labrador, referencing the Division I and II programs. "Every team forced us to play fast, powerful, intelligent volleyball."
Leading the pack was sophomore middle hitter Kate Snead (Westerville, Ohio/South). On the day she tallied 24 kills on a .416 hitting percentage, including .500 and .667 hitting performances against Marshall and the second matchup with Wheeling Jesuit respectively, while committing only four errors.
Other notable Tiger performances include the play of junior hitters Jessica Kimble (Dennison, Ohio/Claymont) and Jackie Williams (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat), who posted 21 and 16 kills, respectively. Sophomore hitter Katherine Yuskewich (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson) chipped in 11 kills, while junior libero Laura Fender (Toledo, Ohio/St. Ursula) led the defense with 42 digs.
"I'm proud of our competitiveness on the court facing some extremely talented teams," Labrador said. "It was a great learning experience to see how fast and aggressive we need to be to compete at the highest level."
