Wittenberg Offense Stalls In Loss To Thomas More
March 10, 2005

ORANGE, Calif. - For the second time in as many days, the Wittenberg Tigers dropped a game against Great Lakes Region rival Thomas More in a game played in the Sunwest Tournament at Chapman University in Orange, Calif. This time, the Wittenberg offense was stymied on just three hits in a 5-1 loss.

Wittenberg, which fell to 1-4 on the young season, allowed four runs in the first inning and another in the third before the Tigers got on the board as senior Ashley Lands scored on a wild pitch. Lands, freshman Nicole Ottavi and sophomore Stephanie Zorn were the only Tigers to get hits in the game, while Thomas More banged out nine hits.

Freshman pitcher Taryn Hensel allowed five earned runs in tossing her first collegiate complete game. She gave up nine hits but did not walk a batter as the Wittenberg defense played its first errorless game behind her.
