News Release: Seven Tigers Make All-NCAC Honor Roll![]() |
CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Allegheny men won their fifth straight and eighth overall team title at the NCAC Championships, held at Ohio Wesleyan on May 3-4. The Gators captured five first and 16 other top-three finishes to total 211 points and outdistance Ohio Wesleyan (193), Wabash (110) and Wittenberg (79) in the men's field. The Ohio Wesleyan women claimed their sixth NCAC crown and first since 1998 with 237 points. Defending champion Allegheny wound up second with 228 points, followed by Oberlin (101), Wooster (75.5) and Earlham (75). Read More ... |

DELAWARE, Ohio — The Wittenberg men's and women's outdoor track and field teams had a mixed bag of results at the 2007 North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet. On two outstanding day weather-wise (after a spring filled with the opposite), the Tiger men put together a fine fourth-place team finish but the short-handed Tiger women managed seventh place. SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – A solid 2006-07 winter sports season wrapped up for the Wittenberg University Tigers over the last two weeks as the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) awarded 19 Wittenberg student-athletes with postseason honors. Five Wittenberg student-athletes were selected to the men's and women's basketball All-NCAC teams, while another 14 claimed their awards based on individual finishes at championship events for men's and women's swimming and diving (Feb. 8-10) and men's and women's indoor track and field (March 2-3). Allegheny, OWU Take NCAC Indoor Track & Field Titles As Tigers Finish Middle Of Pack![]() |
CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Allegheny men won their fifth straight and eighth overall team title at the NCAC Championships, held at Denison March 2-3. The Gators captured five first and nine other top-three finishes to total 159 points and outdistance Ohio Wesleyan (114), Wabash (100.5) and Denison (75.5) in the men's field. The Ohio Wesleyan women claimed their sixth NCAC crown and first since 1994 with 183 points. Allegheny wound up second with 112 points, followed by Oberlin (106) and Denison (60). COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers split their squads over the Feb. 10 weekend, and the results at the Mike Hout Invitational at Capital University on Friday and the All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein College on Saturday were very strong. Athlete of the Week: Nicole Bailey Earns NCAC Field Events Athlete Of The Week![]() |
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Wittenberg junior Nicole Bailey (Cincinnati, OH/Summit Country Day) won the long jump at the All-Ohio Championships with a provisional qualifying leap of 17 feet, 9.5 inches. She also took first in the triple jump (35-9.25), and was second in the 55 meters (7.40). Her time in the prelims of the 55 (7.36) was a meet record, later broken by the winner in the finals. SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Wittenberg Director of Athletics and Recreation Garnett Purnell announced that Craig Penney has been named the university’s new men’s and women’s cross country and track & field head coach.
