Mumper breaks Triple Jump Record Again!

The Wittenberg track and field team traveled to Ohio State Saturday to compete against many NCAA Division I and II teams. Many of the tigers competed very well among the tough competition. Leading the way on the women's side, was Kristen Mumper who placed 9th in the long jump (16' 4.75") and 5th in the Triple jump (35' 0.5"). The good competition made it easy for Kristen to jump a PR and break her own school record for the third week in a row. Also running strong for the Tigers was Becky Barnes placing 6th in the 600 m at 1:53.90 and 10th in the Mile (5:48.61). In the 800, Kelli Zilli was able to keep the pace with the speedy Division I middle distance runners to place 7th in the 800 in a time of 2:23.05. She also helped the tigers score points in the pole vault as she placed 6th with a season best jump of 8' 6.25". Zilli completed her spectacular day by anchoring the 7th place finishing 4 x 400 m Relay team. She was accompanied by a strong group of runners, Marissa Davoll, Mary Blonder, and Sarah Weide, to finish in a time of 4:15.22.

Tigers Compete with Best and Receive Several 5th place finishes

After taking a few weeks off because of an injury, Junior Mark Trempe gets back into competition. Usually a sprinter, Trempe tries his hand at a longer race- the 600m - so as not to aggrivate the injury. Trempe finishes strong to a 5th place finish in a time of 1:32.08. Skip Ivery, who qualified provisionally in the 55m hurdles two weeks ago finished 5th in the 60 m Hurdles at 8.38. The tough competition did not intimidate freshman, Joe Rumschlag, who jumped another PR - 41' 7.25". He has been competing strongly all season and is continually improving. His jump was good for 5th place. The 4 x 400 m Relay of Matt Frost, Alex Yurovitsky, Derek Thompson, and Demetrius Ellison was an exciting one for the tigers as Ellison chased down a runner and beat him at the tape. Ellison's strong finish along with fast splits from his teammates, gave the team a 10th place finish in 3:32.41. Also placing was Joel Drake in the Shot Put. He received 10th place for his throw of 44' 6.75".
