WESTERVILLE, Ohio — It was a record-breaking day for the Tiger men and women of track and field. A successful All-Ohio Invitational delivered a new school record time in both the men's distance medley relay and the men's 800-meter run, making it a banner day for junior Gabe Savage (Lewisburg, Ohio/Tri-County North). The Wittenberg men put together a seventh-place finish out of 16 teams, and the women finished 14th out of 17.

The men's distance medley relay team, consisting of Savage, freshmen Andrew Carter (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) and Josh Courlas (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) and senior Mike Echols (Springfield, Ohio/North), put together an excellent second-place finish while breaking Wittenberg's record by an astounding 11 seconds. Their final time of 10:28.94 shattered the previous mark of 10:40.55 set in 2000. Savage also stamped his name on the record books with a 1:58.93 finish in the men's 800-meter run to finish fifth, improving over the previous record by just under a half-second.

Junior Erik Larkin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Country Day) had a busy day, competing in three events and taking home first place in the men's triple jump. The women received their record-breaking finish from the consistently strong senior fielder Allison Walker (Columbus, Ohio/Academy), who placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 45-5.75 feet, a new school record. Freshman Kaitlyn Wesseler (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne) finished sixth in the pole vault to round out the women's top finishes.
