
Wittenberg University Track and Field/Cross Country Head Coach
Wittenberg Track and Field and Cross Country Head Coach Craig Penney will host an evening camp for youth athletes in grades seven through 12. Penney brings 30 years of college coaching experience to the camp, and during his career he has developed 52 national qualifiers, 32 All-Americans and his teams have won 13 conference titles and finished in the top five nationally on two occasions.
As an athlete competing at the Division II level, Penney won several individual titles and qualified for the national championship meet twice. As a coach, he brings a wealth of knowledge in all areas of track and field, including sprints, hurdles, jumps, field events and relays.
His Wittenberg staff will assist in coaching the camp and teaching the fundamentals of specific events. The focus will be on teaching, training techniques, race strategy, race preparation and other elements of the sport of track and field.
This is an evening camp that starts at 6 p.m. and runs until 8-8:30 p.m. nightly. Cost of the camp is $150 for five training sessions, $125 for those who pre-register by June 10. Camp participants will receive T-shirts and beverages.
A $50 deposit will hold a spot for interested participants. Special rates are available for households with more than one athlete. For those rates, contact Penney directly.
