SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – A solid 2006-07 winter sports season wrapped up for the Wittenberg University Tigers over the last two weeks as the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) awarded 19 Wittenberg student-athletes with postseason honors. Five Wittenberg student-athletes were selected to the men's and women's basketball All-NCAC teams, while another 14 claimed their awards based on individual finishes at championship events for men's and women's swimming and diving (Feb. 8-10) and men's and women's indoor track and field (March 2-3). SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Finishing strong in their final tune up before the North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet Feb. 8-10, the Wittenberg Tigers came up with a pair of dual meet victories against in-state rival Case Western University on Senior Recognition Day. Tigers Split Weekend Duals Against Transylvania and Denison![]() |
SPRINGFIELD/GRANVILLE, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers turned in a pair of solid performances over the weekend, defeating Transylvania at home before losing to perennial powerhouse Denison on Saturday. The scores for the men's and women's competitions were strikingly similar in each meet. The men topped Transylvania by a 129-99 count before losing to the Big Red, 145-92. SPRINGFIELD/OBERLIN, Ohio — The Wittenberg men's swim team played host to visiting Wabash on Friday Nov. 11. In a heartbreaker, the Tigers fell to the Little Giants, 119.5 to 121.5 which was neck and neck for a majority of the meet. Wittenberg Splits Dual Meet With Wooster![]() |
WOOSTER, Ohio — The Wittenberg men's and women's swimming and diving teams had quite an interesting afternoon at North Coast Athletic Conference rival Wooster. A meet that started out well enough was interrupted in the middle of the women's 1,000-yard freestyle competition by a campus-wide power outage, which forced the two teams to move their meet to nearby Wooster High School. When waters had finally calmed, the Tiger women had claimed a resounding 138-105 victory over the perennial national power Scots, while the Tiger men dropped a deceiving 148-95 decision.
