Tigers Lose First In Nearly A Month At Oberlin

For the Tigers, not much went well on Saturday night, on either end of the field. Goalkeeper Ben McAnnis-Entenman (Portland, Ore./Cleveland) was attempting to punt the ball out of the 18-yard box when he dropped it, directly into the path of an oncoming Oberlin forward, who took an easy, uncontested shot on the net.
Junior backfielder Justin Jenkins (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) was as reliable as ever, making big defensive stops and turning away Oberlin forwards. But other than that, the team appeared flat, without the energy to which Tiger fans have become accustomed.
Offensively, Brian Glenn (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) provided one of few highlights, scoring just five minutes into the second period. But it was not enough to build momentum, as Oberlin retaliated with two goals, the first just three minutes after Glenn found net.
The loss moves the Tigers to 9-3-2 overall, and 3-1-1 in the conference, still enough to keep them well involved in the race to the postseason. The team next hosts Earlham at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Edwards-Maurer Field in Springfield.
