The second quarter saw the Tigers build their lead as they scored seven more goals. Chris Gruber added two goals and an assist to lead the Tigers in the second quarter while Habermeyer, Phil Deak, Burrell, Stephen Faust and Alex Nichols each added goals. The defense continued to hold the Yeomen scoreless and the Tigers went into the half with a commanding 13-0 lead.
Wittenberg continued to play well in the second half as many of the younger players gained valuable playing time and experience. Cassani scored two more goals for the Tigers and Matt Gregory scored his first goal of the season. Andy Stone added an assist for Wittenberg while the defense allowed only one goal by the Yeomen.
The Tigers finished the game with two more goals by Chris Gruber in the final quarter. The Tiger defense held the Yeomen scoreless in the fourth quarter to allow Wittenberg to open the conference schedule with a victory. The Tigers defeated Oberlin 18-1.
Senior goalie Michael Oliver recorded five saves for the Tigers while sophomore Charlie Hamilton had three saves. Justin Bitner led the Tigers with six groundballs.
