The Wittenberg University men's basketball program is the all-time winningest NCAA Division program in the country by both total victories and winning percentage. Taking all NCAA programs into account, the Tigers have the third-best winning percentage which places them in front of such programs as Duke, Kansas and UCLA.
Camp Director
Bill Brown is in his 31st year of college basketball coaching. In his first 14 years as the head coach at Wittenberg, Brown's teams have compiled an overall record of 327-75. Brown also has more than 30 years of summer basketball camp experience. His daily presence and involvement with campers make Brown one of the leading camp directors in the Midwest. The camp instructional staff always includes some of the best available high school and junior high coaches in the state. In addition, players and coaches from the Wittenberg program are important members of the teaching staff as well.
Outstanding Facilities
All camp activities are conducted indoors at the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER) Center located on the Wittenberg University campus. The HPER Center includes five full courts and 22 basket areas. Three of the courts and 14 baskets are located in an air-conditioned gym. Campers also have access to the Olympic-size swimming pool in the natatorium.
Resident campers stay in Firestine Residence Hall which is also air-conditioned. It is located only approximately 75 yards from the HPER Center. Camp coaches reside in the same dormitory as campers and provide session breaks and evening supervision. Roommate assignments are made according to registration form requests. Others will be paired with campers of comparable age range.
Resident and commuter campers eat meals on a daily basis in the Central Dining Room (CDR) which is located in the University's Student Center. The CDR, which is also air-conditioned for the camper's comfort, serves meals on an all-you-can-eat and drink buffet plan. This dining facility is located only approximately 125 yards from Firestine Hall.
Readily Accessible Location
Wittenberg University, located near Interstate 70 in Springfield, Ohio, is readily accessible from anywhere in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Springfield is 35 miles west of Columbus and 20 miles northeast of Dayton. Interstate 75 is just 15 miles east of Springfield.
Team Camp Schedule
Each team plays a total of 10 games. Games consist of two-16 minute running time halves with the clock stopping and starting during the final minute of both halves. Although five playing courts are available, each division will have only 10 teams. Teams in one division alternate game times with the other division. NO team sits out more than one game period (45 minutes). This camp set-up provides for the absolute minimal time possible to be out of game action.
