After learning more about neurological diseases, including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, Berger, who carries a 4.0 grade point average, realized she could make a difference. CLEVELAND, Ohio — Wittenberg freshman Boo Vernon (Lake Bluff, Ill./Cushing Academy) continued to show off her scoring ability, putting away the game-winning goal in the Tigers' overtime decision against Denison. It was her second goal of the game as the Tigers won, 4-3. Wittenberg also lost to Oberlin last week, 1-0. Vernon leads the Tigers with 16 goals and 34 points this season. OBERLIN, Ohio — Defense has become a buzzword on Wittenberg's campus. Men's soccer, women's soccer, field hockey and football have all relied on strong defense to have success in the 2007 season. But even the best defense can't win a game when the offense does not produce.
