ORLANDO, Fla. - Back-to-back five run innings blew the top off of Wittenberg's season opening 15-6 win over Kings College in Orlando, Florida Sunday.
In the sixth inning of the victory, with two runners on and with a modest 5-3 lead, senior Joel Puthoff (Houston, Ohio/Russia) changed the landscape of the game with a three-run home run, putting Wittenberg out to an 8-3 margin. Add an RBI double in the fourth and Puthoff finished with four RBI on the day, going 4-5 from the plate to lead the team.
Sophomore Chris Dorka (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) also homered in the game, racking up three RBI in a 2-4 day at the dish.
Junior Tim Antil (Brookville, Ohio/Northmont) served as the game's starting pitcher for the Tigers, going four-and-a-third innings and giving up just one earned run and notching two strikeouts.
The spring break action continues Monday against Muhlenberg.
