Wittenberg’s School of Community Education Hosts Lunch And Lecture Series Fallingwater: Frank Lloyd Wright’s Masterpiece
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The School of Community Education presents Fallingwater: Frank Lloyd Wright’s Masterpiece in conjunction with the Westcott Center for Architecture and Design on Wed. May 21, from 11:30 – 1 p.m. in Shouvlin Room 203.
Cara Armstrong, the presenter of the event, was named the Curator of Building and Collections at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy in 2002. She later served as Fallingwater’s Curator of Education from 2006 to 2010. Armstrong holds degrees in Environmental Design and Philosophy from Miami University, a Master of Architecture from Columbia University, and a Master of Fine Arts from Drew University.
In her presentation, Armstrong will discuss Wright’s organic design of homes, including the Westcott House in Springfield. The Solar House that recently opened on the Westcott property will also be discussed.
Armstrong is an educator, writer, and illustrator who penned the 2010 novel Moxie, Dachshund of Fallingwater. Currently, Armstrong is a visiting professor in the School of Architecture and Art at Norwich University.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. and Armstrong’s lecture will begin at 12:10 p.m. A Questions and answers segment will follow at 12:45 p.m.
Lunch will be available from the Student Dining Room buffet; however, participants may bring their own lunch. The cost of the lecture including lunch is $13.50. The cost of the lecture excluding lunch is $7.
