Springfield, Ohio – The 2012-13 Wittenberg Series continues on Wednesday, Feb. 6, with a performance by Doug Varone and Dancers. The award-winning dance company will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. in Kuss Auditorium at the Clark State Performing Arts Center, 300 S. Fountain Avenue.

All Wittenberg Series events are presented free of charge, although tickets are required for the performance by Doug Varone and Dancers. Tickets may be obtained at Wittenberg’s Benham-Pence Student Center service desk or at the box office at Clark State Performing Arts Center. Call the student center at 937-327-7443 or the box office at 937-328-3874 for more information.

Varone, his dancers and designers have been honored with 11 New York Dance and Performance Awards (Bessies). In celebration of the company’s 25th anniversary, this year’s tour will reconstruct major dances from past repertory, as well as recent new works and premieres.

In addition to the Wittenberg Series performance, Doug Varone and Dancers will teach a masterclass to Wittenberg students at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in Chakeres Memorial Theatre.

The performance by Doug Varone and Dancers was made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and additional funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Now in its 30th year, the Wittenberg Series brings distinguished lecturers and performing artists of national and international prominence to the Wittenberg campus and Springfield community.
