Wittenberg Art Department Hosts Annual Senior Exhibit
Springfield, Ohio — Four years of hard work is showcased in Wittenberg University's 2008 Senior Art Exhibit. Showcasing the thesis projects of six senior art majors, the Senior Art Exhibit is scheduled to open with a reception from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 18, in Koch Hall.
The artwork was previously on display between Feb. 13 and March 14 at Arts Interface in Springfield. The campus showcase, which is open to the public and free of charge, will be on display through the end of the university's 163rd Commencement ceremonies on May 10.
The event includes at least two pieces of each student's work. The students each selected the topic for their thesis, and they have spent all semester working to complete them.
Seniors graduating with a bachelor's degree of art are Cody Nicely from Knoxville, Tenn., Austin Highfield from Columbus, Ohio, Elissa Ward from Springfield, Ohio, and Rachel Schwebach from Carmel, Ind. Candidates for a bachelor's degree of fine arts, the equivalent of the university's honors program in art, are Rebecca Graves and Eric Bess, both from Springfield, Ohio.
"The environment [in the art building] is very nurturing for young artists and really works on expanding one's artistic vision," Schwebach said. "Through the support of my art teachers and fellow art students, I've been able to develop and improve as an artist."
