Wittenberg Students Display Artistic Talents In Gallery At Historic Westcott House
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg University Art Department and the Westcott Foundation are co-sponsors of “Foreshadowing: Steps to Come,” a gallery of works by senior art majors to be displayed at the historic Westcott House in Springfield from Nov. 12-26.
Every year, Wittenberg senior art students present an exhibit somewhere in the Springfield community to display the collective talents of the graduating class. The community showing is also a preview of the work produced for the Senior Thesis Exhibition, held each spring in Koch Hall.
A diverse group of artists have prepared artwork in ceramics, photography, drawing, painting and mixed-media for the upcoming event. The gallery will contain one entry representative of the creative direction of each senior student as they prepare to graduate in May.
Gallery contributors include Jacqueline Del Brocco from Chesterland, Ohio; Kristen Jackwood from Wooster, Ohio; Colleen Keppel from Tipp City, Ohio; Arwin Kirkpatrick, from Indianapolis, Ind.; Kristen Klann from Strongsville, Ohio; Alexander Marriell from Athens, Ohio; Saundra Smith from Lewisburg, Ohio; Brandon Sweaney from Westerville, Ohio; Karin Thue from Springfield, Ohio; Jennifer Troxtell from Springfield, Ohio; Janson Wehrley from Medina, Ohio; and Terraya Lewis from Cleveland, Ohio.
An opening reception will take place from 2–4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The exhibit will be open for public viewing from 4–5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and from 12-1 p.m. Sundays between Nov. 15 and Nov. 26. The Westcott House is located at 1340 E. High St. in Springfield. Call (937) 327-9291 for more information or to schedule guided tours. Information is also accessible through the Westcott House Web site at www.westcotthouse.org.
