- Students are automatically considered for a merit-based scholarship when applying for admission to Wittenberg.
- For priority consideration for all scholarships, students must apply by Wittenberg’s Early Action deadline of December 1.
- All Merit-Based Scholarships will be renewed for up to four years if the student maintains good academic standing.
- Students may receive only one Merit-Based Scholarship.
- If a student is eligible for more than one Merit-Based Scholarship, the scholarship providing the higher dollar amount will be awarded.
Starting at $19,000 Wittenberg recognizes and rewards its most academically-talented admitted students with the invitation to compete for the Provost Scholarship by attending one of Wittenberg’s Scholarship Days. During Scholarship Days, students will be asked to write an essay and participate in an interview discussion with Wittenberg faculty to earn the Provost Scholarship. Top Provost Scholars will be selected into the University’s Honors Program.
Wittenberg Scholar Award
Starting at $8,000 Based on academic achievement, personal references and continued success in co-curricular activities.
Starting at $2,000 Based on good citizenship, personal references and involvement in co-curricular activities.
Broadwell Chinn Award
$16,000 - This award recognizes diversity among students who exhibit a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
Half tuition - Offered to any transfer student who is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and has maintained good academic standing.

Wittenberg Legacy Scholarship
$18,450 - This scholarship guarantees that children and grandchildren of Wittenberg alumni will be awarded at least $18,450 in scholarship funding. Applicants must identify the parent or grandparent when completing their Wittenberg application for admission.
Martin Luther Scholar Award
$20,000 - This scholarship is available to any Lutheran student who exhibits a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. To be considered for this award, students must be nominated by a Lutheran pastor or other congregational leader by December 15, 2013 and must apply for admission to Wittenberg by January 15, 2014. Please note that these deadlines have been extended for the 2013-2014 admission year.
Lutheran Pastor-Parent/Layworker-Parent Grant
Half tuition - Available to dependent children of full-time Lutheran pastors serving a recognized call or call to special service; or to dependent children of full-time workers in Lutheran ministries. Qualified applicants will be asked to submit paperwork verifying employment.
Yellow Ribbon Grant
Up to full tuition - Offered to military veterans and/or their families. The recipient must be a child of a military veteran who served post 9/11. The scholarship, when combined with other VA benefits, provides up to full tuition to qualifying applicants. Eligible students must work with the VA to apply for this award.
Bill Martin Scholarship
Full tuition - Recipients of the Bill Martin Scholarship must reside in Washtenaw County, Michigan and be an incoming student in the class of 2018. The deadline for this scholarship is December 1.
Rochester Area Scholarship
$10,000 - The Rochester Area Scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman from the Rochester, N.Y. area. The deadline for this scholarship is December 1.
In addition to scholarship opportunities, students may apply for need-based financial aid by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1. This form is available online.
