The Student Leader Fellowship Award
My decision to apply for the Student Leader Fellowship Award, a prestigious scholarship that recognizes academic achievement and leadership ability, changed my life. I cannot describe my life at Witt without mentioning the opportunities provided by the award, especially being introduced to numerous campus leaders, faculty, staff and various student organizations. During my freshman year, I met monthly with other Student Leaders to discuss how to get involved on campus, which provided me with the support and momentum to really make a difference at Witt and in the Springfield community. The Emerging Leaders Program, a six-week seminar led by the Student Coordinator of Leadership, was particularly beneficial. First-year student leaders met once a week to discuss topics ranging from diversity to public speaking to campus involvement. Many new opportunities to get involved opened before my eyes, and I felt confident taking leadership positions. By the end of my first year, I was president of Union Board, a resident assistant and a Student Senator. The Student Leader Fellowship Award has challenged me to realize my full potential, get involved, meet new people and enjoy Witt to the fullest. As a Student Leader Fellow, you too will be rewarded with many opportunities that will help you grow as a person.
