Reading Suggestions from the Advisors

Watch the Writing Center Movie!

[Y]ou have to be ready to be taken by the words of others—learning, including learning to write, is not about invention, about being creative, it is not about having ideas on your own; it is about finding yourself in relation to the work of others, having a voice in intense conversation with other voices, learning to listen and to read in ways that allow the rhythms and cadences of other people’s prose to dance at the ends of your fingers while you type away at the keyboard.   -David Bartholomae
