Lessons And Carols Features Joyner Family
With music provided by more than 125 musicians, including the Wittenberg Choir and the Wittenberg Singers, the annual Wittenberg Series-sponsored Lessons and Carols for Advent and Christmas attracted a significant crowd during this traditional Service of Light.
As in past years, the ceremony begins with a chapel enveloped in darkness and then gradually illuminated by the lighting of hundreds of candles. The Wittenberg Bell Choir plays a series of “change rings” as the opening procession takes place, and Weaver Chapel slowly fills with light.
Members of the Wittenberg and Springfield communities alsoplay a role in the service every year through a series of Scripture readings. This year’s service included readings by President Laurie M. Joyner and her 14-year-old son, Jay.
