In recent years, the Wittenberg volleyball team has invited members of the campus community to join the student-athletes and coaches on the bench for selected matches.

The individuals are selected for a variety of reasons, including their support of the team and their impact on the student-athletes. Among the individuals who have taken their turn as guest bench coaches are University Provost Chris Duncan, Director of News Services and Sports Information Ryan Maurer, Director of Church Relations Bob White, Professor of Education Brian Yontz, Women’s Soccer Head Coach Kwame Lloyd and Ann McGree, the popular Sodexo Dining Services employee who welcomes Wittenberg students to the Center Dining Room with a big smile each day.

Wittenberg President Laurie M. Joyner continued the tradition during the Tigers’ key North Coast Athletic Conference match against rival Hiram on Friday, Oct. 19. The Tigers put together one of their best performances of the 2012 season with a 3-0 sweep of the Terriers en route to their seventh straight and 18th all-time NCAC regular season championship.
