CIC Presidential Vocation & Institutional Mission Program
As we prepare for another school year, Jay and I attended the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) and Lilly Endowment Presidential Vocation and Institutional Mission Seminar for University Presidents. The program, funded by a generous grant by Lilly Endowment Inc., accommodates up to 20 college and university leaders and their spouses in each year-long series, and has been held seven times since 2005.
Through this program, I was able to consider, explore and clarify my personal vocation and to see how it aligns with Wittenberg’s mission. Being aware of this alignment and the strength of the connection between my vocation and the university’s mission, I can work to tap into this alignment as a resource for effective leadership in the upcoming school year.
This program provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect on personal values and one’s calling, and I’m excited to lead Wittenberg for another year as students continue to reflect on their own calling and situate themselves in the world.
