Lunch with Community Supporters
Today I had the opportunity to have lunch with Pauline Chakeres and Fred Leventhal, whose families’ have contributed so much to the Wittenberg community.
The Chakeres are lifetime members of the university's Benjamin Prince Society. Through their generosity, they established the Mr. and Mrs. Michael H. Chakeres Family Scholarship Endowment Fund at Wittenberg, which provides financial assistance to Wittenberg students who pursue a performing arts or entertainment-related career.
Each year, students perform three mainstage shows, several one-acts and two dance concerts in The Chakeres Memorial Theatre, which is the home of the department of theatre and dance.
The Fred R. Leventhal Family Endowed Lecture, part of the Witt Series, is made possible by a gift from the Leventhal Family of Springfield. This year, Wittenberg will welcome writer and humorist Dave Barry to campus for The Fred. R. Leventhal Family Lecture on Thursday, Oct. 17.
It’s so refreshing to spend time with community members whose generous support make the Wittenberg experience possible!
