Wittenberg recommends that all full-time students have medical insurance coverage. Enrolled students are asked to provide a copy of their insurance card along with other required health forms requested.
The university does not offer any individual student health insurance with the following exceptions:
- Varsity athletes are covered for medical conditions related to their participation in varsity athletics through EIIA (Educators and Institutional Insurance Administrators, Inc). http://www.eiiastudent.org/wittenberg/students/athletes
- International students are covered with an International Student Plan through EIIA. http://www.eiastudent.org/wittenberg/students/international
Students desiring insurance coverage who have no hometown broker to arrange it can access a broker through this website: http://www.nahu.org/consumer/findagent2.cfm. An independent insurance agent can assist you in finding the most appropriate individual plan at the most cost-effective rate. These arrangements should be made well in advance to arrival on campus.
If You Are Covered Under a Parent's Insurance Plan
Some private health insurance plans do not cover services received away from your home network. This could affect your choice of care. Find out what needs to be done to have office visits, lab tests, x-rays or prescriptions paid for by your insurance company.
The Wittenberg Student Health Center charges a small fee for nurse and physician visits. These fees are billed to your student account and you are given information necessary for submission of insurance claims. The health center does not bill insurance.
The Health Center is closed through the summer. If you have questions, please call Student Development at (937) 327-7800.
We look forward to serving your student at Wittenberg, and we encourage you to stop in at the Health and Counseling Center during New Student Days.
