Recycling Programs Getting Underway
Casey Stevens, Program Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life, and Elise Willer (’09), the Recycling Representative to Student Senate, have combined forces to get more Greek organizations suited up with recycling programs. Before this semester, one organization had recycling in its house—kudos go to Lambda Chi Alpha—and, thanks to the initiative of Carl Coburn, Phi Gamma Delta (better known as the Fijis) started their program this fall. Three additional Greek organizations— Kappa Delta, Delta Tau Delta, and Gamma Phi Beta—are now working with the Wittenberg Recycling Program to get their houses up and running. Based on these efforts, a set of guidelines for initiating a program has been put together and is being sent out to the board members of all Wittenberg’s Greek organizations. The goal for both Elise and Casey is to have all the fraternities and sororities recycling by the end of the 2008-09 year and to have a Green Representative in each house. |
Green House Program Sets Environmental Goals for the Greeks
In an effort to provide our fraternities and sororities with some ways of greening up their living arrangements, the Wittenberg Recycling Program has established the Green House program which provides houses with a list of options for reducing their environmental impact. The program is in its infancy, but prospects for its eventual success have been helped immensely by the input from various members of the Greek community. If, after considering the program, you have suggestions for its improvement, please send your ideas to the Recycling Coordinator through the contacts page. |
