About Fraternity & Sorority Life

Greek Life

Welcome to Wittenberg University's Greek Life website. For over 130 years, fraternities and sororities on our campus have forged a strong tradition of leadership, success and pride. This heritage benefits both our fraternity and sorority members and the broader university community.

Fraternity/Sorority membership is open to all students regardless of age, race, religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation or disability. The single sex status of each organization is protected under law. More than one third of our undergraduate students are members of the Fraternity/Sorority community. Members are involved in most of the University's events, programs, and student organizations. In any academic year nearly 50% of the campus leaders are fraternity/sorority members.

We invite you to explore our website. We have designed our site to provide an introduction to the many different aspects of our fraternity and sorority community. This site will provide you with access to information about the services, programs, and events sponsored by our office and our fraternal organizations.  You can also submit a Fraternity/Sorority Interest Form to let chapters know you are interested in learning more about their organization.

We welcome your questions and feedback. You can reach us at cpreston "at" wittenberg.edu or call us at 937-327-7820. If you would like to write to us, our address is P.O. Box 720, Springfield, Ohio, 45501. You can also follow us on  and  us on .

Our Mission

The Mission of Greek Life is to promote excellence in scholarship and personal conduct, to provide support for the campus and general community through philanthropic giving and service, and to assist in the development of leadership and life skills for all Fraternity and Sorority members, and by example and extension of membership, to others.

Our Vision

A growing, cooperative community of fraternities and sororities that strive to achieve high standards of scholarship and conduct as individuals and chapters setting positive examples in the community.

greek lifeGreek houses which are truly living and learning environments and are self governing, so that they hold their members accountable for their behavior and set positive examples for all students. Places where respect and support for individual differences, choices, talents and intellectual pursuits is expected, and inclusivity is achieved; where hazing has no place.

A community where non-greek students, faculty and administrators and staff and the local community value the contributions of fraternity and sorority members and groups and visibly and audibly support their activities and endeavors.

A community that values its past and plans for its future by maintaining and including alumnae/i members to stay involved.

Our Staff

Fraternity/Sorority Life at Wittenberg University is part of the Office of Student Involvement and all functions are overseen by the Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life, Carol Nickoson.  Carol is originally from California and received her BA in Liberal Studies: Political Science and Education from the University of California, Riverside (UCR), and her MA in Higher Education Administration from the University of Redlands. She has worked as a fraternity/sorority advising professional for over 8 years and is actively involved in various professional organizations and volunteer activities.  While Carol is the primary staff liaison to Wittenberg's Greek community, several other administrators in the Division of Student Development work closely with the sorority/fraternity community.
