
Ligia Ravenna Pinheiro

Assistant Professor of Theatre and Dance, teaches courses in dance history, popular culture, ballet technique, kinesiology, and social dance. Ligia received her M.A. in Dance History and M.F.A. in Labanotation from The Ohio State University, and B.F.A. in ballet Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Cincinnati. She has presented her research in papers and demonstrations at professional academic conferences in the United States, Portugal, Spain, and France. Ligia danced professionally, performing leading roles in works such as Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Les Sylphides, and The Nutcracker, as well as contemporary works and baroque reconstructions. She has studied Baroque dance and Beauchamp/Feuillet notation with Catherine Turocy, Carlos Fittante, and Nena Couch. Ligia is certified to teach Labanotation through the Dance Notation Bureau in New York City, and has taught at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department, The Ohio State University Dance Department, and private schools.
