
James H. Humphries
Associate Professor of Theatre and Dance, teaches courses in stagecraft, scenic and lighting design, and art of theatre. He holds a B.A. from Southern Arkansas University and a M.F.A. from the University of Idaho. Humphries has designed for professional, academic, and community theatres throughout the country. He has won several design awards for his work, which includes a Globe award from San Antonio, an Ostrander award from the city of Memphis, a regional award from the Texas Nonprofit Theatres, and one from the International Siglo de Oro Drama Festival. Prior to coming to Wittenberg, Humphries was at Texas A&M University where his work received a citation from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for design excellence. He is a member of United Scenic Artists and the United States Institute for Theatre Technology and is a former regional chair. Humphries is on the design staff of the Texas Shakespeare Festival and is also a technical director for the annual All Ohio production of the state thespian association. In 2002 he was inducted into the Ohio Educational Theatre Hall of Fame. He joined the Wittenberg faculty in 1992.
