William Dollhopf, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Physics and 3-2 Engineering Liason, has published more than a dozen articles on intermediate energy nuclear physics in Physical Review and Nuclear Physics. He has delivered professional papers on a variety of subjects including "A Study of Alpha, 2-Alpha Reactions on Light Nuclei." He contributed a paper to the International Conference on Nuclear Physics in Florence in 1983. Recipient of several study grants, he works with an international group of physicists studying reactions on 48Ca. He has been a consultant to the Space Radiation Effects Laboratory and a participant in the National Aeronautics Space Administration Summer Faculty Fellowship program and currently holds a National Science Foundation grant to train elementary and middle school teachers in "hands-on" science education. Dollhopf has designed courses on electricity and magnetism, advanced mechanics, wave phenomena, and thermodynamics, a tutorial course on space colonization, and a senior seminar on the relevance of physics to society. He earned his B.A. from Thiel College, B.S. from Western Reserve University, and Ph.D. from the College of William and Mary. He joined the Wittenberg faculty in 1980.
