What is WittEntrepreneurs?

WittEntrepreneurs is program based on the value of experiential learning.  Specifically, teaching the theory and practice of entrepreneurship – as it relates to business but also promoting entrepreneurship as an important element of change in all aspects of our society.  This program is for all students, in all areas of study.  It empowers students to put what they have learned into practice by planning, launching and managing their own ventures.

Who does WittEntrepreneurs serve?

ALL Wittenberg University students.

As a community member/alumnus, how can I help?

There is always something that can be gained from collaboration, especially when different perspectives are involved.  As an alum or interested community member, there are many helpful options for you to consider:

  • Become a student-venture mentor
  • Contribute as a member of a student venture advisory board
  • Teach a workshop
  • Help judge our business plan competitions
  • And of course, donations are always accepted
Why an alliance with Village Markets of Africa?

First, Village Markets of Africa represents true fair trade by paying higher wages for work done, and distributing a significant percentage of profit back into the Kenyan community.  It is a area in which Wittenberg has made a positive impact through trips to Lesotho and we would like to see our impact broadened and magnified.

Second, the owner is a Wittenberg Alumni who created this business while in his undergraduate studies.  The exact display of entrepreneurial spirit we want to see from each student as a result of our program.

Third, and most important, it represents a wonderful learning opportunity for our students.  Being able to make significant business decisions and watch the impact of those decisions is an unrivaled experience for most undergraduate students.

If I come up with an idea while in the program, does Wittenberg own it?

NO! One of our core values is “take nothing from our students,” this includes equity, intellectual property and profits generated by student-founded ventures.  The reason we exist is to serve our students, and that’s hard to do if you’re taking their creations away.

I’m not a business major, can I still be involved?

YES!  And you should be involved!  This program is designed to be for all students.  Most of the best ideas come from other disciplines because those students provide a unique perspective of the world and the program loses value without those perspectives.  The only requirement of involvement is that you have to be passionate about something.

Can I ______ in this program?

Probably!  The wonderful thing about WittEntrepreneurs is that there are no real boundaries.  If you have a passion for something, we can probably find a way to help you realize that passion.
