Welcome to the English Department
At Wittenberg University, active and engaged learning is enriched by a love of reading and writing. Throughout its history, the English department has worked with students to deepen that love with skills in analysis, research, critical thinking and intensive writing opportunities—all skills that will prepare you for diverse careers while doing something what you love.
Whether you are interested in literature, creative writing, journalism or other related fields, at Wittenberg you have the flexibility to choose courses, internships and study abroad programs to match your goals and personal interests. From participating with The Wittenberg Review of Literature and Art to SAGE, Sigma Tau Delta, Spectrum, The List and the student newspaper The Torch, students studying English consistently push themselves to pursue truth and seek meaning with integrity, compassion and creativity.
Our students have gone onto careers in public relations, teaching, journalism, business and finance as well as writing. Graduates have also continued on to graduate programs at Case Western, Columbia, Harvard and Johns Hopkins.
The English Department would like to congratulate its students on their various awards!
