Roberta A. Linder

Roberta Linder, Assistant Professor of Education, joined the Wittenberg Education Department in August of 2009. She is presently teaching courses in reading assessment & strategies and phonics in the teaching of reading and writing as well as courses in the master’s program. Prior to becoming a member of the Wittenberg faculty, Dr. Linder taught in the Master of Arts in Reading Instruction program at Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois, where her instruction focused on action research, word study, and reading instruction for diverse learners.

Experiences as a Title I reading specialist, high school special education teacher, middle school reading teacher, and reading tutor for school-age children and adults have provided Dr. Linder with the rich background that supports her instruction in literacy courses. Her recent research, publications, and presentations have addressed various facets of middle school education (e.g., multicultural literature), media literacy, and effective instruction in action research courses. Dr. Linder has presented at reading conferences sponsored by literacy professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels. She was the recipient of the 2006 College Reading Association Dissertation Award, presently serves on the Editorial Boards of the ALER Yearbook and Literacy Research and Instruction, and has reviewed for the Middle Grades Research Journal.

Dr. Linder received her B.A. in Education from Capital University, M.S.Ed. in Learning Disabilities from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois, and Ed.D. in Literacy Education from Northern Illinois University.
