Dr. Jesse Fox, Assistant Professor of Communication at The Ohio State University, will present her research at the Department of Communication fall colloquium on Sept. 12 at 4:30 p.m. in Bayley Auditorium.

Fox’s speech, entitled “The Impact of Communication Technologies: How Facebook, Video Games, and the Internet are Affecting Our Selves and Our Relationships” will offer students the opportunity to reflect on how electronic media affect them personally.

“The study of communication technology is important because it cuts across so many disciplines and bodies of knowledge,” said Fox, “best of all, this isn't information that just sits on your brain shelf, you get to incorporate what you learn in your everyday interactions.”

 Dr. Katie Warber, Assistant Professor of Communication at Wittenberg, met Fox while they were both studying at the University of Arizona. Recently, Warber conducted a study with Fox about the impacts of social media on Witt’s campus.

 “By attending this presentation, students [will have] the opportunity to see the research process through from start to finish and they will get to see the results of the research in which they participated,” said Warber.

 In addition to the colloquium presentation, Fox is fielding questions about graduate school for students on Sept. 12 at 11:30 a.m. in the Faculty Dining Room. The free lunch is open to all Wittenberg students interested in pursuing degrees in the social and behavioral sciences.
