Letter To The Editor Contest

Win cash prizes for being published!

Write a Letter to the Editor of The New York Times, USA Today, Columbus Dispatch, Dayton Daily News or the SPRINGFIELD NEWS-SUN.  Become the first published writer in any of these papers and win a cash prize.

CONTEST RULES

At Wittenberg, you are challenged to write persuasive essays that are clear in their language and reasoned in their thought.  As an educated person, you have the responsibility to put these skills to use by inputting your voice into the public debate.  The Letter to the Editor Contest is an exciting opportunity for you to be rewarded for making your voice heard.  The following steps will guide you in how to participate in this contest.

Step 1:

Write a Letter to the Editor to any of the following: The New York Times, USA Today, The Columbus Dispatch, Dayton Daily News, or Springfield News-Sun.

Step 2:

If your letter is published, bring a copy of the paper with your letter printed in it to the Communication, English, or Political Science Department office.  The first person who is published in each of the newspapers each semester will be awarded the cash prize.

NOTE: It is YOUR responsibility to bring your published letter to the Department office in a timely matter.  If someone has their letter published after you, but brings the paper to the office before you, there is a chance that they will be awarded the prize.

Step 3:

The cash prizes that the winner will receive are as follows:

              New York Times               $100

              USA Today                      $100

              Columbus Dispatch           $50

              Dayton Daily News           $50

              Springfield News-Sun        $25
